The United States is increasing the de minimis level on international shipments inbound to the U.S. from $200 per shipment to $800 per shipment*. The change is targeted to take effect March 10, 2016. This represents a significant step in facilitating trade, reducing costs and accelerating the delivery of merchandise. In particular, this change will benefit exporters by reducing paperwork for faster clearance and improved transit time. * Certain commodities regulated by U.S. government agencies may require customs entry regardless of value and will not benefit from the new de minimis level. |
