This is the gear that connects the kickstart gear to the clutch gear

Sometimes this gear can have a tooth or 2 missing and means the kickstart feels like it is not connecting sometimes, This same symptom can be caused by teeth missing on the pinion gear or the shaft locating clip not being located correctly in the crankcase

The gear is mounted with the recessed side, the one shown in the picture facing inwards, towards the crankcases. We have seen many bikes where this is fitted the wrong way round, as it looks right but it wears the teeth out.
